                                            GIMP VS. PHOTOSHOP

The main question here is how we are going to introduce GIMP to a user who has relied completely on Photoshop for his or her image editing needs? That is how I went to my friend since she is an excellent worker with Linux to introduce me to GIMP. I will attempt to compare Photoshop and GIMP to the best of my capabilities. The main difference between GIMP and Photoshop is the price. GIMP is obviously a free and open source software. You are welcome to contribute any quantity to the GIMP development if you so want to. This is really beneficial for an ambitious designer who desires to improve our design abilities, but presently does not have the abilities of paying for Photoshop. Photoshop cost in Amazon is $642.58. In Adobe you can get it for $19.99/month. Not everyone can afford this when need it.

If we talk about hardware requirements, such as RAM and disk space used, GIMP requires less hardware properties than Photoshop. Another characteristic is that GIMP can also cross-platform. It can be use on Mac, Windows, as well as Linux. Photoshop is not available for Linux users so far. When it comes to features, Photoshop obviously has much more than GIMP. And if all we need to edit photos is a small subcategory of Photoshop qualities, we should contemplate moving to GIMP, basically because we will end up paying for Photoshop features that we will hardly use. As a disadvantage, GIMP is infamous for having a unexpected familiarity twist. Using the software for this assignment, I have to confess that I find its user interface is quite confusing. If you are thinking to move from Photoshop to GIMP, you can start by trying GIMPshop (Linux not available yet). It has same qualities as GIMP, but presents a Photoshop-like interface in its place of the default GIMP one.
